Ryan Wooldridge- Band Director
Ryan Wooldridge is beginning his fourth year teaching at Woodmont High. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Fairfield High School and was drum major in the marching band his senior year.
He graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He completed his student teaching experience at Woodmont. Mr. Wooldridge has served on the Technology and Curriculum committees at Woodmont High. He is also the Webmaster for Woodmont High School. He is in his second year as the Coordinator for the Greenville County School District Parade Band that will be performing this year at the Armed Forces Day Parade in downtown Greenville, SC. Mr. Wooldridge is committed to building a successful comprehensive band program at Woodmont International Baccalaureate High School.
Mr. Wooldridge currently lives in Simpsonville with his wife, Maria. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, listening to music and playing Wii and Xbox 360 with his wife.
James Bagwell- Assistant Director
James Bagwell is beginning his eighth year teaching instrumental music at Woodmont Middle School. He currently serves as Assistant Director, Assistant Visual Consultant and Musical Supervisor for the Bands of Woodmont. Mr. Bagwell is a graduate of Woodmont High School and the Greenville County Fine Arts Center. Mr. Bagwell received his B.A. in Music Education from Limestone College. Mr. Bagwell is currently working on his Masters in Music Education from Anderson University. Mr. Bagwell has studied trumpet under Paul Davis, Shane Dixon, Timothy Phillips, Gordon Hann as well as receiving instruction from Kenneth Thompson and Jeff Purtle. In 1998 and 1999 Mr. Bagwell was a member of The Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Bagwell currently lives in Simpsonville with his wife Marisa. He enjoys spending time with his seventeen month old son, Griffen. In his spare time, Mr. Bagwell likes watching NASCAR and The Big Bang Theory.
Matthew Cruice- Associate Director
Mr. Cruice is currently a senior music education major at Bob Jones University. He is in his final semester, and is student teaching at Ralph Chandler Middle School and Woodmont High School. He earned the LIFE scholarship award upon completion of his high school diploma. His primary instrument is the trumpet. He made the South Carolina All-State Band in his 10th-12th grade years. He participated in the Winthrop Invitational Band Clinic band his 11th and 12th grade years, making 1st chair in the upper band his senior year. He was a member of the Bob Jones Academy Wind Band his 10th-12th grade years and was also a member of the Bob Jones Academy orchestra his senior year. In his senior year he received the John Philip Sousa Band Award. He is currently the 2nd trumpet in the Upstate Brass Quintet, and recorded a CD with them in 2009. He has actively participated in the Morningside Baptist Church Orchestra from 2006 until the present and was the 1st trumpet on their first recording. He has played in several instrumental groups at Bob Jones University, and has been a performer in various types of performances, including Vespers, choir concerts, brass quintet concerts, trumpet choir concerts, and brass choir concerts. He went on tour with the university’s brass choir twice, as well as the Symphonic Wind Band tour twice. He also played 2nd trumpet in the orchestra as part of Bob Jones University’s award-winning production of Il Trovatore. He is an unashamed Philadelphia Eagles’ fan, and he also enjoys Playstation 3, especially the Madden football games.
