Ryan Wooldridge

Ryan Wooldridge is beginning his third year teaching at Woodmont High. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Fairfield High School and was drum major in the marching band his senior year.

He recently graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in Music Education. He did his student teaching at Woodmont, so he is already acquainted with many of our students. He is looking forward to getting to know all of them even better!

Mr. Wooldridge currently lives in Simpsonville with his wife, Maria. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, listening to music and playing Wii and Xbox 360 with his wife.

James Bagwell

James Bagwell is beginning his eighth year teaching instrumental music at Woodmont Middle School.  He currently serves as Assistant Director, Assistant Visual Consultant and Musical Supervisor for the Bands of Woodmont.  Mr. Bagwell is a graduate of Woodmont High School and the Greenville County Fine Arts Center.  Mr. Bagwell received his B.A. in Music Education from Limestone College.  Mr. Bagwell is currently working on his Masters in Music Education from Anderson University.  Mr. Bagwell has studied trumpet under Paul Davis, Shane Dixon, Timothy Phillips, Gordon Hann as well as receiving instruction from Kenneth Thompson and Jeff Purtle.  In 1998 and 1999 Mr. Bagwell was a member of The Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps.  Mr. Bagwell currently lives in Simpsonville with his wife Marisa.  He enjoys spending time with his seventeen month old son, Griffen.  In his spare time, Mr. Bagwell likes watching NASCAR and The Big Bang Theory.

Luther Sherman

Mr. Luther Sherman is Currently the Visual Consultant and Color Guard Instructor for the Bands of Woodmont

High School. He is serving his seventh season. He writes equipment and basic technique for the Fall and Winter Guard programs. Luther also designs the silks and uniforms for each show, as well as prop staging.
Mr. Sherman is a graduate of Blue Ridge High School, Greer, SC. Participated in the Marching and Concert bands beginning in the sixth grade, and was Drum Major and Guard technician his senior year. Mr. Sherman is also a musician at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Enjoys reading, listening to gospel and jazz music, movies, building and teaching all students. Most of all he loves spending time with his God sent “Baby Girl” Aliviah.
Mr. Sherman is honored to be a part of the Bands at Woodmont High School.

Derek Henson

imageMr. Henson is our Percussion Instructor and writes our percussion book, He graduated from Blue Ridge High School where he marched in the drumline, While in school he won three state championships. He is currently attending Greenville Tech and plans to transfer next semester to USC-Upstate to get his degree in secondary education with a concentration in Social Studies/History. He led his first winter percussion group to a bronze medal at the SCBDA state championships. He has studied under Eric Hines, Stephen Taylor, Matt Chastain, Bob Cotter,and Brian Grant. He enjoys listening to music, playing paradiddles, and watching The Office.
