Band Camp Help Needed!!!!

Calling All WHS Band Parents, We Need Your Help!!!

We are still short a few food donations for the lock in that is scheduled for 7/31/14. We need the following items:

-Chips
-Pretzels
-Cookies
-Snack Cakes
-Gatorade or Capri Sun’s

If you can help with any of the above items please drop them by the school any time tomorrow.

We are also in need of some fruit donations for next weeks camp. We need the following:
-grapes
-apples
-peaches
-nectarines
-bananas

If you can assist with any of the above fruit items please contact Jennifer Pooley.

2014 Band Camp Information

WHS Band Students,

Please see important information from Mrs. Cotter:

Band Camp times:

July 28-31 9 am – 9 pm (except Wed. we will end at 5 pm for church)
August 4-7 same as the prior week
July 31 we have a lock-in
August 7 – we have a cook out with parents
August 8 – we have a pool party at the Tedrow’s house

Let the games begin. Be sure to have a water container, sun screen, giant water gun, water balloons, bring a tricycle or a big wheel, and make sure to wear a hat.

2014 DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL (DCI) TRIP
Greer High and Woodmont High Band Students and Parents,
Explanation of Event:
DCI’s World Class corps will head indoors to the Georgia Dome when the 2014 Drum Corps International Tour returns to Atlanta this year on Saturday, July 26. As one of the most popular and best-attended events of the entire summer season, the DCI Southeastern Championship will be one of the only times before the World Championships in Indianapolis that all of DCI’s World Class corps compete head-to-head. 24 corps will be performing…
DCI is to the marching activity as the Superbowl is to Football.
It is Marching Music’s Major League.
Tentative Schedule
7:30 am – Greer High Students arrive w/parent to sign permission slip
7:45 am – Bus #1 Arrive @ Greer High School – Load Bus
8:00 am – Depart Greer High School via charter bus
8:15 am – Bus #2 – Pick arrive at Woodmont High School (If you don’t have a permission form on file, you and your parents will need to complete one before we leave.)
8:30 am – Bus #2 departs for Discover Mills Mall
10:30 am – Both Buses arrive at Discover Mills Mall (eat lunch)
12:00 pm – Report back to appropriate bus
12:15 pm – Depart Mall for Georgia Dome
12:45 pm – GATES OPEN @ GEORGIA DOME
1:00 pm – Buses arrive at Georgia Dome
2:30 pm – Show
11:00 pm – Show Ends
11:30 pm – Depart for Home
1:45 am – Approximate time Bus #2 to Arrive at Woodmont High School
2:15 am – Approximate time Bus #1 to arrive at Greer High for Greer
***Students will need to bring money for lunch, dinner, souvenirs etc

WHS Band Parent Volunteers Needed

Calling All WHS Band Parents,

 

We are in need of a few good parent volunteers to assist us with the band and guard uniforms for next year. The band uniforms will be getting an upgrade and we need a few volunteers to help sew them.

 

In addition we need volunteers to assist with sewing the guard uniforms. If you can spare some time to assist with this project please contact Mrs. Cotter at:

Urgent Request from Mrs. Cotter

WHS Band Parents,

We are in need of 9-10 parent volunteers to assist us when the band students return from participating at graduation on June 5th, 2014. We need parent volunteers to assist us with checking in and cataloging the instruments as well as help with putting the concert uniforms away.

If you can spare some time to assist us please meet the band in the band room at 9:30pm on June 5, 2014.

Winter Ensemble Competition April 5th

Calling All WHS Band Parents,

 

This Saturday, April 5th is the final Winter Ensemble competition. It is being held at WHS and we need your help!

 

Below is a list of volunteer positions we need filled. We need all band parents to assist to ensure the competition is a success. If you can help please contact Mrs. Cotter or Jennifer Pooley to sign up.

 

 

Assignments for April 5

Ticket takers – (We need at least two people)

10:30-12:30

Concession Stand workers – We need at least 6 per shift

Parent in the body warm-up room timing

WHS Winter Guard & Percussion State Competition Update

A Message from Mrs. Cotter:

 Good Evening WHS Winter Ensemble Parents & Students,

Saturday, March 22nd is our state winter ensemble state competition at York High School. Below are important details:

-Students need to arrive at WHS at 7:30am

-We will depart WHS at 8am

-Students need to bring money for lunch and dinner. There is a concession stand at the competition that students will be able to purchase food from

-Students need to wear black socks

-Winter percussion students t-shirts are in. The cost is $5.50 per student. If you haven’t paid for yours please bring in your money.

-The awards ceremony will start at 7pm

-Students should be back to WHS around 10pm.

 

We hope everyone can join us at York High School to cheer on WHS!!!! Go Wildcats!!!

Change in Winter Guard & Winter Percussion Rehearsal Schedule

A Note from Mrs Cotter:

 

Due to Concert Festival Competition there will be no winter guard or winter percussion rehearsal this evening 3/18/14. Winter Guard & Winter Percussion Students will have rehearsal on Thursday (3/20/14) and Friday (3/21/14) of this week.

 

Don’t forget winter students will have their competition on Saturday, March 22nd. All winter students need to be at WHS at 8am.
